International Professional Teaching Certification (IPTC)

A competency-based professional teacher development and certification programme in six levels, from Foundation Teacher to Professional Education Leader. IPTC combines LMS learning, live instruction, practical teaching, classroom observation, assessment, digital and AI education, professional portfolios and CPD.

  • Six levels: from Early Years teaching to school leadership
  • Practical teaching required: 60 to 150 supervised hours, depending on the level
  • Verifiable certification: certificate number, QR verification and a competency record
  • Digital & AI strand: at every level, from digital basics to responsible AI use
  • Assessed, not attendance-only: knowledge, teaching skills, practice and portfolio

What IPTC is

ZEF's International Professional Teaching Certification (IPTC) is a structured, competency-based pathway for teachers at every stage of their career, from a first classroom to leading a school. It is not an attendance-only certificate: at each level you show professional knowledge, teaching skill, practical competence in a real classroom and professional evidence in a portfolio.

How you learn

  • Learning on the ZEF LMS, with live instruction from experienced teacher educators
  • Supervised practical teaching: observation, micro-teaching, supervised classroom practice, assessor observation, feedback and a final demonstration
  • A digital and AI strand at every level, from digital teaching basics to learning analytics and responsible AI use
  • A professional portfolio built through the course, and continuing professional development (CPD) after it
  • Online, on campus or hybrid

How you are assessed

Competency-based: Professional Knowledge 40%, Teaching Skills 25%, Practical Teaching 25% and Professional Portfolio 10%. The overall pass mark is 60%, with a separate minimum requirement in practical teaching.

Certification and verification

Successful teachers receive an official ZEF IPTC certificate with a unique certification number and a QR code. Anyone can check a certificate on the ZEF website at zef.org.pk/verify.

Recognition

ZEF IPTC is a ZEF professional training and certification credential. It is not equivalent to a B.Ed., M.Ed., PGCE, iQTS, QTS, a university degree or another regulated qualification unless formal recognition is obtained from the relevant authority. The curriculum is mapped to Pakistan's National Professional Standards for Teachers, NACTE teacher-education quality materials and UNESCO's ICT Competency Framework for Teachers; this mapping does not by itself confer external accreditation.

Questions

Which IPTC level should I start with?

It depends on your education, experience and the students you teach. IPTC-1 is for Early Years and Primary teachers with an Intermediate (FA/FSc); higher levels ask for a degree and teaching experience. Each level’s page lists its eligibility, and a counsellor can check which level fits you.

Is IPTC equivalent to a B.Ed. or PGCE?

No. IPTC is a ZEF professional training and certification credential. It is not equivalent to a B.Ed., M.Ed., PGCE, iQTS, QTS or a university degree unless formal recognition is obtained from the relevant authority. It shows the competencies you have demonstrated at each level.

How is a ZEF IPTC certificate verified?

Each certificate has a unique certification number and a QR code. An employer can scan the code or enter the number on the ZEF website’s verification page to confirm that the certificate is genuine and see the level completed.
