Where we work

Across Pakistan, Where the Need Is Greatest

ZEF works across Pakistan, in all four provinces and in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. We focus on communities where schools, health services and economic opportunities are hardest to reach, from remote mountain valleys to fast-growing city neighbourhoods.

Balochistan

Pakistan’s largest province by area, where communities are spread across vast distances. Reaching schools, clinics and markets is a daily challenge, and water is scarce in many districts.

Cities: Khuzdar, Nasirabad, Quetta, Turbat, Zhob

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

From fertile valleys to mountain districts, including the newly merged districts where schools, health facilities and livelihoods are still being rebuilt.

Cities: Khyber Agency, Mardan, Peshawar, Swat (Mingora)

Punjab

Pakistan’s most populous province and its agricultural heartland, where large rural and peri-urban communities need better schools, skills and farm incomes.

Cities: Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan

Sindh

Home to Karachi and to rural districts along the Indus that face floods, water stress and gaps in education and health.

Cities: Hyderabad, Karachi, Sukkur

Azad Jammu & Kashmir

A mountainous region where steep terrain, earthquakes and landslides make services hard to reach and preparedness essential.

Cities: Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot

Gilgit-Baltistan

High-mountain communities with great tourism potential, where long winters, glacier melt and distance shape every programme.

Cities: Astore, Chilas, Gilgit, Skardu

How We Choose Where to Work

We work where the need is greatest and where communities are ready to take part. Before starting, we meet local leaders, families and officials, agree priorities together, and plan how improvements will be kept up after our support ends.
