About This Training

ZEF's Medical / Clinical Laboratory Technician training is a practical programme of 4–6 months covering lab safety, specimen handling, basic haematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, quality control and documentation. You train in a practice lab.

Why 4 to 6 months? Every batch covers the same modules, practical work and assessments. Full-time weekday batches finish in about 4 months; part-time evening or weekend batches, and learners who need extra practice before the final assessment, take up to 6 months.

Benchmarked against the WHO Laboratory Biosafety Manual and ISO 15189 medical laboratory quality principles.

Questions

Is this a medical technology degree?

No. It is a practical short training for laboratory assistant and support roles. Licensed technologist roles require recognised diplomas or degrees and registration.

Do I need a science background?

Yes. FSc pre-medical or a similar background is needed to follow the biology and chemistry involved.

Can I work in labs abroad?

Laboratory work abroad usually requires licensing and registration in the destination country. The training explains these requirements, but it does not replace them.
