About This Training

ZEF's CNC Machine Operator training is a practical programme of 4–6 months covering machine safety, technical drawings, measurement, CNC setup, G-code basics, tooling, offsets and inspection. You spend most of your time on machines and finish with a machining practical.

Why 4 to 6 months? Every batch covers the same modules, practical work and assessments. Full-time weekday batches finish in about 4 months; part-time evening or weekend batches, and learners who need extra practice before the final assessment, take up to 6 months.

Benchmarked against NAVTTC’s competency-based (NVQF) approach, about 80% practical (CNC Machinist) and the NIMS CNC Operator credential skills.

Questions

Is this training on real CNC machines?

Practical work uses CNC machines and simulators in the workshop, supervised by instructors. Simulators let you practise programs safely before running them on a machine.

Do I need machining experience?

No, but a mechanical background helps. You start with safety, drawings and measurement before moving to setup and programming.

What jobs can I get?

CNC operator, machine operator and setup assistant roles in manufacturing. Overseas work is subject to employer, trade test, visa and qualification-recognition requirements.
