Frequently Asked Questions

Who can apply for free laboratory tests?

Poor and deserving patients who need tests their doctor has advised and cannot afford them can apply, or someone can apply on their behalf. Women, children, elderly people and those with chronic illnesses are among those ZEF prioritises.

Do I need a doctor’s prescription?

Yes. A doctor’s prescription or medical request form is required, so that only the tests you actually need are arranged. Attach it with your CNIC or B-Form when you send the request; any earlier medical reports help too.

Are all laboratory tests free?

Approved tests are free or subsidised, depending on the test, the partner laboratory and the resources available. Not every test is available in every location. Our team tells you which tests are approved and whether anything is not covered before you go.

How will I receive my test results?

Results are shared with you and, where you agree, with your doctor, by the laboratory or partner facility that carried out the tests. Our team tells you how and when to collect them when your tests are scheduled.
