How Community Schools Work
- Finding the NeedWe identify villages where there is no school, or where the school has been shut down.
- Agreeing with the CommunityCommunity meetings decide where the school will run and how the village will support it.
- Local TeachersWe hire teachers who live within a couple of kilometres and train them in the curriculum and classroom management.
- An Equipped ClassroomZEF provides all classroom needs, such as fans, lights and mats for floor seating.
- Free EducationZEF provides tuition-free education to students, as well as textbooks, notebooks and other school supplies.
- Support for FamiliesFamilies whose children attend regularly can be supported through other ZEF programmes, such as health care and clean drinking water.
- Beyond the ClassroomActivities such as tree planting, with our Agriculture & Environment work, for a well-rounded education.
