About This Training

ZEF's Livestock & Dairy Management training is a practical programme of 3–6 months covering livestock husbandry, dairy management, feed and nutrition, hygiene, disease prevention, milking and records. You finish with a farm improvement project.

Why 3 to 6 months? Every batch covers the same modules, practical work and assessments. Full-time weekday batches finish in about 3 months; part-time evening or weekend batches, and learners who need extra practice before the final assessment, take up to 6 months.

Benchmarked against the FAO and IDF Guide to Good Dairy Farming Practice.

Questions

Does this training replace a vet?

No. You learn prevention, hygiene and early signs of illness, and when to call a qualified veterinarian. Diagnosis and treatment remain a vet's job.

Are there farm visits?

Yes. Hybrid and campus batches include visits to dairy farms, subject to access, so you practise routines on working farms.

Can this help increase milk yield?

Better nutrition, hygiene and records often improve animal health and milk production. Results vary with breed, feed costs and management, so the training focuses on sound practice rather than promises.
